Research on Properties of Edible Films Prepared from Zein, Soy Protein Isolate, Wheat Gluten Protein by Adding Beeswax

With the increasing awareness of environmental protection, interest in development biodegradable materials has become increasingly popular. At present, wheat gluten protein (WGP), soybean isolate (SPI), and Zein have made some progress application packaging materials. same time, beeswax (BW) is widely applied preparation food coatings. In this study, composite films were prepared by adding BW to three different types proteins. Various properties film, such as thickness, color, mechanical properties, thermal stability, tested. The thickness film was significantly increased after BW. Regarding didn’t improve film’s tensile strength. results SEM indicated that surface morphology changed due interaction between molecules. Besides, addition resulted a decrease stability. Td (77 ℃) WGP (106 decreased 72℃ 98℃, respectively. study shows will opportunity be package field future further replace traditional petroleum-based films.
